So today we're going to show you a comparison of the Baby Jogger City Select, and the brand new City Select Lux, and we're gonna show you all those upgrades.
We're gonna start with fabric. On your classic City Select, it's gonna be more of a silky, nylon; you have your bold colors and your two frame color options between silver and black. Awesome canopy.
And then with the Lux, you have these nice, softer heathered fabrics- you only have five color options and they're all beautiful, but you only have the black frame option.
Next, they did make some upgrades on the handlebars. So on the classic City Select, you have the round handlebar, and then you have your handbrake here, which you just pull up and then flip down.
Now on the Lux, you do have kind of a square shape to it, but they added a decelerator. But then you can also put on the parking brake like that.
Then they also changed how that second seat is going to attach to the front. So on the classic City Select, you're gonna push this button on the side, and you're gonna release it like this.
So it just has a little trap door so it stays nice and clean, and then when you put on your second seat adaptors, you just push them in.
I want to mention that these are additional accessories.
They both have a forty-five pound weight capacity, and you can start putting your baby in at six months or older. Now the canopy, you can still adjust that as well, so the main functions of the seat are the same as the City Select.
Okay, now let's get into the fold. So the fold mechanism on both strollers is the same. And technically, you can fold both strollers with the second seat attached. So the fold mechanism is going to be on both sides, you're just gonna pull up on the fold handle. And then you have your manual lock on the side to lock it into place. It's quite bulky when folded.
So some of those smaller upgrades are gonna be the wheels. On your City Select, you are gonna have foam-filled, no air tires. And then on the Lux, you're gonna have all rubber tires. However, on the City Select, it does offer a little bit more suspension because they are foam-filled.
So both of them do feature a large storage basket underneath. On the City Select, you do have a side zipper that keeps it down, then you can use the elastic. The Lux, they took away the zipper, but it is still very "elasticy" so that you can get a bag in there. Now also on the Lux, they feature a zippered pocket on the back of the seats for something small.
Now these upgrades do come at a price. So the City Select weighs in at just over twenty nine and a half.
The Lux weighs in at just over thirty one and a half.
Now I wanna get into my favorite improvements of the Lux. So now, instead of the second seat adaptors being just for a second seat, you can get the addition of a shopping tote. It does have a messenger strap, so you can carry it around when you're on the go. This is one of the accessories that you can actually use on your old City Select, so you can go ahead and get this accessory if you already have a City Select.
Now my favorite accessory is actually the bench seat. Now the bench seat does have a sixty five pound weight capacity and it comes with a foot plate for them to rest their feet. It's not designed to stand on.
Another accessory that they added to the line is a cup holder. Now it does fit a larger bottle. Now I do need to mention that the cup holder and the bench seat are only compatible on the Lux - you cannot use those on your City Select. But you can buy the Lux seats and put those on an old City Select frame.
Now all other accessories are actually compatible with both strollers, and that does include carseat adaptors. The carseat brands that are compatible are Baby Jogger, Britax Bob, Chicco, Cybex, Graco, Maxi Cosi, Nuna, and Peg-perego.
Now care instructions on both strollers is the same. You can remove the soft goods, they are machine washable on a gentle cycle in cold water, and then throw them back on your stroller to dry.
The Lux is a little bit more expensive. The classic City Select retails for $529, and the Lux retails for $629. You can purchase both of those on our website, babycubby.com.
