Great song. I missed it because it did not play in America, as far as I know.

Folks, this is a great tune. But please remember each older generation always is against the next generation about music, culture etc. It's human nature; old distrusts the new. And so it goes.

Been doing some research on my local area just lately...I happen to remember seeing this MGM original in the glass doorway of a shop that was formerly run by the late Max Millward from 1962 onwards, the premises are now a unisex hairdressers' business.

Glad I was a teenager during the sixties! Can’t stand today’s rubbish and fast-talking Crap that they try to pass as music, wont listen to radio anymore!

Bought this album when it first came out. Let my brother take it home back in the 80s to listen to never got it back. Wish I still had it She has a very distinctive voice unlike today's singers who all sound alike. .

The single girl all alone in a great big town The single girl gets so tired of love letting her down The life's unreal and the people are homely And the nights can get so lonely The single girl needs a sweet loving man to lean on I'm a single girl wondering if love could be passing her by I'm a single girl and I know all about men and their lies Nobody loves me cause nobody knows me Nobody takes the time to go slowly The single girl needs a sweet loving man to lean on I gotta make my own way There's rent I gotta pay I need a night-time love to get me through the day I'm a single girl all alone in a great big town I'm a single girl and I get so tired of love letting me down But there's a man I've yet to know Waiting somewhere I've yet to go Someday I'll have a sweet loving man to lean on

My ex introduced me to this song...and like all enlightened women of my generation, I wasn't sure I liked it...now, I'm thinking of adding this song to my repertoire of music...If I perform it, will take artistic license and make a few changes to reflect times...from "need" a man to "want" a man...and "lean on" to "share life?"...
Deb Newman (9 months ago)

The 60's was a great time to come of age. I graduated high school in 63. Graduated college in 68. The songs were fantastic. The war protests were coming alive in 67. Then 69 saw me drafted into the marines. Time of my life.
